GI Issues for the Primary Care Physician

This symposium will provide clinical updates on the diagnosis, management and palliation of various gastrointestinal conditions through formal lectures, case presentations and questions and answer sessions. This agenda has been specifically designed to offer practical approaches and solutions that healthcare professionals may readily integrate into their daily practice. Topics include: GERD, dysphagia, functional GI disorders, celiac disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, anorectal disorders, anemia, colorectal cancer screening, nutrition in GI disorders and weight gain after bariatric surgery.

8th Annual UCLA Liver Diseases Symposium (30th Anniversary of Liver Transplantation at UCLA)

Date:              November 1, 2014
Location:        Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center - Tamkin Auditorium - Los Angeles

This symposium will serve as an educational forum for the Southern California physician community for the scientific exchange of information regarding diagnosis and treatment of the most prevalent liver diseases. Each lecture will start with a case presentation, followed by a discussion on the pertinent topic.

Nutrition and Value-based Care Seminar

This seminar will provide participants with the scientific data and understanding of nutrition in health and how it plays a role in inflammatory diseases.

Topics include: 1) integration of nutrition in disease prevention and in the therapeutic plan of medical care, 2) one set of yoga exercises a day keeps the doctor away - how yoga becomes a part of your treatment plan, 3) food for thought - understanding inflammation and the role of Chinese nutrition, 4) dietary approaches to health and weight loss for chronic inflammatory conditions and 5) value-based health care for rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel diseases.
